Chiflik Livadi is a polyculture farm where a variety of animals are raised sustainably on pasture. Its credo is "Living soil, pure food." The vineyards are farmed with the same philosophy, using the most modern methods for producing organic wines that preserve the authenticity and character of the grapes and the terroir — including the growing of cover crops and even the planting of trees among the vines. In the organic vineyards, cover crops of peas and poppies grow between the rows, keeping the humus layer alive and rich.

Damianitza carries on the legacy of a winery established in 1940 in the village of Damyanitsa, in the municipality of Sandanski. Nationalized in 1947 and privatized in 1997, it became the property of Philip Harmandjiev. Damianitza was among the first heralds of a new era for Bulgarian winemaking, betting on the local varieties Melnik, Rubin and Ruen, which became part of the Uniqato project. The estate vineyards total 46 hectares — 31 of them around the winery itself and the remaining 15 near the village of Izvorovo, Harmanli. They are planted with Early Melnik, Rubin, Ruen, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier, and all the plantings are certified organic. The winery keeps refining its way of working in harmony with nature, joining in its natural cycle.

Set on a scenic hill in the heart of its vineyards, the Santa Sarah Wine Estate is built as a closed ecosystem in which flora, fauna and human activity are kept in balance. The winery runs on an autonomous off-grid system and is fully energy independent, drawing on photovoltaic solar power and giving priority to sustainability and ethical responsibility. The vineyards lie in the lands of the village of Goritsa, in the municipality of Pomorie. They occupy slopes ranging from 3 to 15 degrees, at around 100–130 metres above sea level, nestled in the foothills of the Stara Planina range. Varied soil profiles, exceptional biodiversity, a moderate climate and organic practices in the vineyards allow each wine to reveal the authenticity of its terroir. The Santa Sarah Wine Estate covers 29 hectares of vineyards in total, planted with 17 varieties carefully chosen to suit the site and its soils. The white varieties occupy 12 hectares — Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Traminer and Vermentino — while the reds cover 17 hectares: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Mavrud, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Malbec, Carménère, Petit Verdot, Grenache and Mourvèdre.

Maryan Winery was founded in 2010 by Svetla and Iliya Ivanovi and their sons Petar and Vladimir, with the idea of producing small-batch wines in the foothills of the Stara Planina range — in the village of Maryan, in the Elena region. Together with oenologist Stefan Choranov, they make wines that reflect their philosophy of minimal intervention, letting the varietal character and strengths of each wine come through. The winery takes its name from the village of Maryan, where the wines are made with great dedication. The village's remarkable history is tied to the legend of the beautiful Kera Tamara — daughter of Tsar Ivan Alexander and sister of Tsar Ivan Shishman, the last Bulgarian ruler. With respect for centuries-old traditions and an eye on new technology, the winery produces white, rosé and red wines from Dimyat, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Mavrud, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wines Kera Tamara, Sense of Tears and Ivan Alexander carry the memory of great ancestors and the energy of their heirs. The winery is open for visits and tastings.

When he inherited the Champagne house in 1833, the aesthete and entrepreneur Louis Roederer took a visionary approach to his vineyards, seeking to master every stage of the wine's creation. He shaped the distinctive style, character and taste of the house's wines, and in the mid-nineteenth century acquired Grand Cru vineyards in Champagne — an approach in sharp contrast with the practices of the day. While other houses bought their grapes, Louis Roederer cultivated his own vines, learned the specific character of each vineyard and methodically acquired the finest parcels. His guiding principle was that every great wine depends on the quality of the soil, devotion to tradition and a discerning vision of the future. This approach built the fame and reputation of the Champagne house Louis Roederer. His successor, Louis Roederer II, embraced his father's conscientious approach to champagne-making and managed the family's vineyard estates with instinctive daring. A man of refined taste and a committed explorer, Louis Roederer II conceived something entirely new for his time, creating the first "Cuvée de Prestige" in 1876. He called it Cristal. Ever since, the refinement and elegance of Cristal have forged Louis Roederer's reputation for excellence and style. Today Louis Roederer is one of the last independent, family-owned and family-run Champagne houses, led by Frédéric Rouzaud, the seventh generation of the family, who works with the same patience and steadfast belief in his creative calling. The house extends over 250 hectares of vineyards comprising 420 individual parcels, and exports close to three million bottles worldwide each year.

The Drappier family tree can be traced back to the seventeenth century, when Rémy Drappier was born in 1604. He later became a cloth merchant in Reims, like Nicolas Ruinart. His grandson, also named Nicolas (1669–1724), served as procurator to King Louis XIV of France. It was not until 1808 that one of the house's ancestors, François, settled in Urville and began tending a vineyard of a few hectares. In the early 1930s the vineyard suddenly became the subject of heated debate in Urville. Georges Collot, Michel Drappier's maternal grandfather, resolved to be the first to replant Pinot Noir in the canton. His decision caused a stir and earned him the nickname "Père Pinot" — Old Man Pinot. That variety now accounts for 70% of the Drappier vineyards and of the plantings cultivated in the region — proof that the sceptics were wrong. In 1952 André and Micheline Drappier created the vintage champagne Drappier Carte d'Or, with its distinctive yellow label; each bottle carries aromatic notes reminiscent of quince jelly. After the historic frost of 1957, which destroyed 95% of the harvest, André decided to plant a new variety, Pinot Meunier, more resistant to spring frosts. In 1968 Micheline proposed making a rosé champagne and decided it would be made from 100% Pinot Noir. Fifty years on, Drappier Rosé de Saignée enjoys great success and has even been served at the Élysée Palace. Today Michel Drappier oversees vinification, as he has since 1979, while André Drappier — with 74 harvests behind him — tends the vineyard, which covers more than 62 hectares of family-owned land plus 50 hectares farmed under agreements with other growers. In 1988 deep chalk cellars near Reims, carved out during the reign of Napoleon III, became part of the family estate. These underground tunnels now hold the house's most treasured bottles — above all the Grande Sendrée — perfected by their most faithful ally: time. Since 2016 the eighth generation of the Drappier family has joined Michel and his wife Sylvie in the family business. Charline, born in 1989, is gradually taking over marketing, while her brother Hugo, born in 1991, is responsible for the vineyards and vinification. Antoine, born in 1996, has a strong interest in animals and nature and ploughs part of the organically farmed vineyard with his horse. The Drappier estate also includes old orchards, a vegetable garden and a farmyard — thanks to which the house has deservedly earned its carbon-neutral accreditation.

The story of Charles de Fère is the story of a family's love of good food and its dedication to the finest traditional methods of making sparkling wine. Born into a family of Champagne winegrowers, Jean-Louis Denois opened a sparkling wine house in Fère-en-Tardenois, northeast of Reims, in 1980. His idea was to create a boutique winery making exceptional sparkling wines built on the knowledge and skill of five generations.

The Schlumberger family originates from Swabia, a region of southern Germany now part of Baden-Württemberg. Klaus Schlumberger was the first of the family to settle in Guebwiller, in the 16th century, in the days of the abbots of Murbach. He soon found himself at odds with the abbots' hegemony and moved to Mulhouse, a free city since the 14th century that had embraced Protestantism. After Klaus's death, many family members came from Swabia to Mulhouse to work, like him, as tanners. Within a few generations the Schlumbergers had become the largest family in Mulhouse by the 17th century. In our own time, when her father Éric retired in 2001, Séverine Schlumberger decided to return to the estate and immerse herself in the world of wine, learning everything from market trends to the wine trade. Thomas joined her in 2010 as export director and is now chief executive of Domaines Schlumberger. As guardians of this singular wine heritage, they want to share their story and family values with as many people as possible. In 2019 a new showcase with a new tasting room was created, offering an excellent place to discover the Schlumberger wines. Like the generations before them, Séverine and Thomas like to remember that they are links in a long family chain whose central ambition is to make a difference. With that in mind, they have undertaken a series of projects to ensure the best possible transfer of knowledge, with a constant focus on quality, respect for the environment and human values.

Today Joseph Drouhin is run by the four great-grandchildren of Joseph Drouhin, born between 1961 and 1968. They grew up among the vineyards and gained a deep understanding of wine alongside their father, Robert Drouhin. Each has their own role, and all share the same dedication to wine. The fifth generation is now beginning to leave its mark as well. Vintage after vintage, they carry the tradition forward and innovate to push the boundaries in pursuit of the elegant excellence that has made the wines of Joseph Drouhin renowned. Joseph Drouhin is a member of the Primum Familiae Vini. Primum Familiae Vini, also known as PFV, is an international association of some of the world's finest family wine producers from France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Founded in 1992, it admits members by invitation only, with a maximum of 12 highly respected families contributing their experience across generations. Henri Plantin (1890–1966) was the forefather of Château Mont-Redon. In 1923, well before the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation was created in 1936, he acquired this estate, set apart from the village and surrounded by woodland. A true visionary, he set about consolidating the various parcels around the property, recognising the exceptional nature and terroir of the plateau overlooking Mont-Redon, then covered in scrub and small woods. He decided to clear this unused land and plant vines in soil strewn with rounded pebbles. Château Mont-Redon lies in the north-western part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate has the privilege of holding all three of the appellation's emblematic terroirs: primarily the stony plateau, then the safres (compact sand) and the Urgonian limestones. These three highly complementary terroirs are the key to the complexity and quality of its wines.

Leaving Châteauneuf-du-Pape and heading south, after about 2 km an avenue comes into view, winding between vineyards, evergreen oaks, cypresses and olive trees. It leads to Château La Nerthe, nestled among majestic plane trees and centuries-old pines.

I started with what I knew best: making wine, drinking it and talking about it. We are creators." That was in 2007 — but 100 years earlier, in 1907, Vianney's great-grandfather, who lived in the small village of Lansargues in the Languedoc, had begun producing his own wine. The many awards it received testify to the quality of his production. His wines were his pride and joy, and he devoted all his energy to the craft.

A young agricultural engineer from Alsace named Marcel Ott set out in search of his first vineyards. The search would take him as far as the dry lands of Algeria, but his wife Elisabeth finally persuaded him to settle in Provence. With the Mediterranean just a stone's throw away, the wine region is breathtakingly beautiful. The year was 1896. Before acquiring Château de Selle in 1912, Marcel Ott came to know every aspect of this ancient and many-sided wine region. Determined to produce fine Provençal wines from noble grape varieties, he set about transforming the estate step by step. Clos Mireille and Château Romassan, acquired in 1936 and 1956 respectively, would later receive the same care and attention. A visionary in many respects, Marcel used his expertise to introduce sustainable viticulture and winemaking practices, combined with yield control, which would become core practices for the generations that followed. This vision of making little but making it well, still alive today, established Marcel as the first producer to demonstrate the excellence of the wines of Provence. 1932 marked a turning point in the identity of Domaines Ott. Marcel Ott entrusted his son René with the design of a distinctive bottle, which he initially hoped would be adopted by all Provençal winemakers. In the end, however, this emblematic bottle came to be used solely by the Ott family and remains one of the symbols of the house. Marcel Ott soon turned his attention to the international market. In 1933, after the end of Prohibition, the first bottles of Château de Selle red and rosé were exported to the United States. They were an immediate success, and other countries were soon won over by the unprecedented quality of these wines from Provence. Careful, sustainable, organic viticulture and winemaking have always been practised across the estates. In keeping with an ethos built on craftsmanship and an individual approach, the family uses biodynamically inspired practices that go beyond the requirements of current sustainable and organic farming standards.

Astros is nature at its most harmonious and alive — the essential, the most precious, the most refined. It is sunlight, a star, a radiance that brings immediate well-being and harmony. The history of Château d'Astros unfolds like an epic saga, telling the story of Provence through the Knights Templar, the spirit of the Renaissance and the Marseille bourgeoisie. Roman ruins can be found on the estate, but Astros itself was founded in the 13th century, when the Knights Templar settled in the fertile plain of the Argens to establish a farm. They worked this land until the Order was abolished by Philip the Fair in 1314, when Astros passed into the hands of the Knights of Malta, who carried on the Templars' work. In the 17th century the original farm became a seat of administration for the Knights of Malta, who built the first cellar at Astros in 1637. The stones of Astros are a historical chronicle of the people devoted to these lands — home to vineyards, grain fields, olive trees, fig trees and livestock. It was a place of prayer as much as a place to live: Astros has always hosted numerous religious buildings. The most recent, the Saint Lambert chapel built in the 17th century, houses a miraculous spring credited with healing properties. The estate became national property during the Revolution and changed hands again only in 1802, when Maximin Martin, a wealthy soap manufacturer from Marseille, acquired the land of Astros. His grandson, Marc Maximin Martin, a devoted admirer of Italian art, built a magnificent château inspired by Tuscan villas in 1860. He passed the estate on to his first cousin's grandson, Joseph Maurel. The current owner, Bernard Maurel, gave the estate new momentum in 1963. He planted new varieties and built a new cellar near the château to produce his first AOC Côtes de Provence in 1970. The estate, which until then had chiefly produced red wine, came to specialize in rosé. Today Bruno Maurel, a priest at the Jean-Joseph Allemand youth institute in Marseille, represents the eighth generation and runs the family business with the help of his nephews. 2021 was a decisive year for Château d'Astros, marking the start of the estate's transition to organic farming — a conversion begun three years earlier, reflecting the deep commitment and convictions of a family devoted to this land and eager to share its fruits with the world.

The Despagnes are one of the long-established wine families of Entre-deux-Mers, the hilly country between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers east of the city of Bordeaux. The family has farmed vines here for generations and today runs several estates across the area. Two of them represent the house in our catalogue: Château Tour de Mirambeau, whose Réserve Blanc blends Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon into a taut, aromatic white, and Château Mont-Pérat, a dense, Merlot-led red from limestone slopes above the Garonne. In 1995 Jean-Claude Rouzaud discovered Château de Pez and its long history. Established in 1452, Château de Pez belonged for two centuries to the Pontac family — also owners of Château Haut-Brion and true innovators in the discovery of great terroirs. The Pez terroir stood out for its excellent exposure, in the company of a charming château. The property was unclassified, which gave rise to the tempting idea of waking the sleeping beauty. The decision became final after a tasting of Château de Pez's astonishing collection of old vintages. With its well-rounded, fine, elegant style, Pez embodies the idea of a Saint-Estèphe wine. This is how Château de Pez found its place in the "Roederer Collection" — a constellation of singular terroirs in France and around the world. This collection of resolutely modern wines belongs to a great tradition: produced in limited quantities, these wines aspire to become jewels in the crown of their region. With sacrifice, humility and dedication, the vineyards have been replanted over the past several years, and Château de Pez now has everything it needs to shape, proudly, a style of its own. Led by a dynamic team with the freedom to take initiative, the estate is making great strides in balance and production. The sleeping beauty now has all the makings of a Grand Cru.

Château Lafite Rothschild is the fruit of a rare harmony of nature — one that nature alone controls, and that has gone on renewing itself with every vintage for more than a thousand seasons now. On the plateau of Lafite's fabled gravel, it is the men and women working in the vineyards who hand down the traditions of the vine. And for more than a hundred and fifty years, since the arrival of Baron James, the same family has succeeded itself to pass on a single message: precision and endurance in the face of the masterstrokes the sky paints upon these lands. In this perpetual new beginning, in the inconstancy of a nature that writes a different destiny each year, Lafite remains steadfast, yet delicate and refined. Les Fumées Blanches owes its name to the morning mist that drifts like white smoke ("fumée blanche") over the vineyards at the foot of the hills. The story of the Maîtres Vignerons of the Saint-Tropez peninsula has been written alongside that of the town of Saint-Tropez itself. More than 55 years ago they created a distinctive and innovative organisational model: preserving the identity of each member while building a shared strength. In 1964, eight winegrowers from the Saint-Tropez peninsula decided to join forces to produce and promote their wines together. Their goal was to build a common bottling and distribution operation that would showcase their heritage, their brands and their terroir. In 2007, to support the growth of the rosé business in Provence, an expansion project was launched with a new 1,000 m² building for storing bottled wine, and in 2016 the renovation of the 400 m² commercial space by a well-known architect was completed, turning it into a true showroom and reception area for their private and professional clients. In 2017 the organisation made a commitment to organic farming, and in 2021 four new members were admitted. Every step draws on the know-how of their team of agronomist-oenologists: all the members farm their own vineyards, vinify their own grapes on their own properties and benefit from professional expertise at every stage, from vineyard management to vinification. The Maîtres Vignerons operate an efficient, modern bottling line and continue to invest in their facilities to maintain the standard of excellence of their wines.

The Languedoc is France's great southern coastline of vines, an arc running from the Rhône to the Spanish border, where the Mediterranean, the garrigue scrubland and the dry winds shape the wines. Our selection from the region comes not from a single estate but from several appellations and growers' cellars, chosen with one brief: honest, clearly made everyday wine at a sensible price. The whites — Sauvignon Blanc, Vermentino and Picpoul de Pinet from vineyards beside the Thau lagoon — lean on freshness and a saline edge; the reds, from Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, carry the warmth of the south and the herbal note of the garrigue. This is France without ceremony — wine for tables that gather often.

Tenuta Sant'Antonio was founded by four brothers with roots in an old farming tradition. Through study, dedication and hard work they became accomplished winegrowers. Their winery's story spans nearly thirty years, beginning in 1989 — but the land they farm today had been in their hearts for generations, and they grew up playing in these vineyards. Sustainability is a daily commitment: protecting the land and its fruits is the central purpose of the Castagnedi family's work, and it always has been. Everything that can guarantee authenticity and safety is an integral part of their research and a key objective. The safety of the vineyards and of the people who work in them is an important part of the winery's mission, and the direct result is the quality and authenticity of their wines. Respect for the cycles and rhythms of nature lies at the heart of their vision. Today the Castagnedi family produces outstanding wines — Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone. Their conviction is that "Not all Amarone, Valpolicella and Soave wines are the same. The family takes pride in the diversity of its wines, believing that the choice of winery and wine is also a judgement of style on the part of the discerning consumer." Taste their wines and you will see why.

The winery was founded in 1896 by Eugenio Collavini, who sold his wines locally. In 1937 Eugenio's son Giovanni took over its management — the difficult years of trial spanning the First and Second World Wars. Friuli, part of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, lies in northeastern Italy, bordered by the Alps to the north and reaching the Slovenian border to the east. Although the area once supplied wine to many Roman legions, its modern wine history is comparatively young for Italy: the industry restarted years after the Second World War, as part of the population returned. Collavini is one of the region's oldest wineries, having weathered the turbulent history of this corner of Italy. Unlike Italy's other wine regions, Friuli is known for growing both native varieties — Friulano and Ribolla Gialla — and international ones such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Collio, a subzone of Friuli, is one of the world's best-known regions for high-quality white wines. The winery's modern history began in 1959, when Manlio took charge, bringing innovative changes to regional winemaking and turning Collavini into an internationally recognized brand. Today the winery is run by Manlio as president, Giovanni as managing director and Luigi as sales director. Collavini's premium and super-premium wines are sold in more than 40 countries worldwide. Collavini is also the proud owner of the region's largest and oldest sparkling wine facility, with over 50 years of experience and a patented method for producing sparkling Ribolla Gialla — the Metodo Collavini. In doing so, Collavini has entirely rediscovered Ribolla Gialla, the oldest variety grown in the region. The winery farms 170 hectares of vineyards, with care for the land and the local farmers as its first priority and a commitment to minimal environmental impact: no pesticides are used in the vineyards, and 70% of the winery's electricity needs are met by solar panels. Dedication, love of the land and the relentless pursuit of high quality standards — these are the three pillars on which the Collavini family tradition rests.

Leonildo, the town doctor (the equivalent of today's general practitioner), started the family business out of his devotion to wine. In 1901 he bought the first plot of land where part of the Calvarino vineyard now stands. Leonildo's sons, Gustavo and Fausto, developed the wine business with dedication and foresight. In 1966 Leonildo Pieropan — grandson and namesake of the founder and the sole descendant of a large family — made major changes at the winery after completing his studies in oenology and viticulture at the Conegliano school. He acquired new vineyards in the most suitable areas of Soave Classico, introduced new technologies and measured his production against wines he discovered around the world on his travels. Together with his wife Teresita, he shared a love of the land and a belief in the value of tradition, which must always be preserved. Leonildo's idea was simple yet revolutionary at the time: to elevate individual vineyards and give the wines an identity founded on the relationship between grape variety, soil, climate and human labour. This led to the creation of two landmark wines of Italian oenology: "Calvarino" in 1971 — the first Italian white wine from a single named vineyard (the single-vineyard concept) — and "La Rocca" shortly afterwards, in 1978. These two wines express the diversity and versatility of the area's two soils: basalt of volcanic origin in Calvarino, limestone of marine origin in La Rocca. His strong bond with the area also led Leonildo to important choices in the agronomic management of the vineyards: he eliminated chemical weed control in 2002 and began converting the entire production to organic farming in 2008. In the same year, together with friends, he co-founded FIVI, the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers. The fourth generation — his sons Andrea and Dario, graduates in agronomy and winemaking — have carried on the family tradition in the vineyards near Soave since the painful loss of their father in 2018, with the same love and commitment as their forebears.

Атемс

Атемс

Италия

Attems is a name that spans the history of wine in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Documents confirm the Attems dynasty's ownership of land destined for viticulture in Collio as far back as 1106, and the production of Ribolla Gialla and Refosco can be found recorded in the region's principal ledgers from 1764. This centuries-old tradition made the winery a local point of reference, with Count Douglas Attems as its key figure — it was he who founded the Consorzio dei Vini del Collio (the wine consortium of Collio) in 1964, chronologically the third established in Italy and the first in the Friuli region. The story of Attems is thus interwoven with the history of the Patriarchate of Aquileia and the County of Gorizia, from the First World War to the present day. Owned by the Frescobaldi family since 2000, the Attems winery stands as a symbol of a fascinating past, an accomplished present and a future full of innovation.

The winery has been family-owned for six generations, each of which has shaped and contributed to the business in its own way. In 1823 Johann Lageder laid the foundation, trading in wine alongside his work as a wagon builder. His successors bought the first vineyards and began making wine themselves. A significant development came in 1934, when the grandfather acquired the Löwengang estate in Magrè, where the winery's headquarters stand today. In the 1990s, the father set himself the goal of reaching a new level of quality — a first not only for the winery but for the wider Alto Adige region. He also introduced sustainable viticulture, converting all the family vineyards to biodynamic farming. For the sixth generation, which currently runs the winery, the ambition is to develop this identity further and to keep exploring sustainable farming methods while confronting the challenges posed by climate change.

Nearly 150 years have passed since the founding of Vietti. At the end of the 1800s, Carlo Vietti started the winery in the heart of the Langhe, at the highest point of the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto — the same spot it occupies today. In 1917, returning after many years in the United States, Carlo's son Mario Vietti took over the company and shaped it into a winery capable of producing high-quality wines. In the late 1950s Alfredo Currado — husband of Luciana Vietti, an oenologist and lover of art — connected the family's long experience with a renewed intuition, weaving together the knowledge of wine, art and culture. In 1961 one of the first Barolo cru wines was produced, named Rocche di Castiglione. In 1967 came the first vinification of Arneis. Since 1974 the wines have carried Art Labels depicting works of art, and the Vietti name became an icon and standard-bearer of some of the most important revolutions of the era. The intellectual and professional legacy of Alfredo Currado and Luciana was taken up first in the 1980s by their son-in-law Mario Cordero and then, from the 1990s, by their son Luca Currado Vietti, later joined by his wife Elena. Commitment and vision, culture and dedication — these are the words behind the growth of the Vietti winery and brand, recognized today among the leading Italian wine labels. The path of quality has been traced through respect for tradition and careful experimentation, with man and land in constant dialogue. In 2016 the Krause family purchased Vietti. Once again, human intuition made the difference: Kyle Krause set out to expand the estate with new, renowned crus in the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations. At the beginning of 2023 Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena left the winery. The legacy passed to the Krause family, owners since 2016 and standard-bearers of the brand's next chapter. As the seasons have gone by, the company has continued to grow, and the focus on constant improvement — together with the selection of wines offered and the care taken in the vineyards — has become a true signature of the house. Today Vietti owns some of the most representative vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. As in the past, Vietti holds to the founding values that guided Carlo Vietti at the beginning and all his successors after him. The team looks to the future with ever more promising and stimulating prospects. Every wine is the result of craftsmanship and of a deep understanding and interpretation of each individual terroir. Vietti is where skilled hands in the vineyard and the cellar meet vision.

The story of Ornellaia is one of vision and determination. Founded in 1981, Ornellaia immediately set out in pursuit of excellence, and it has always been an expression of the close bond between people and nature. From the launch of Ornellaia in 1985 to the beautiful Bellaria vineyards, from the debut of Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia — the first Second Wine in Italy — to the Vendemmia d'Artista project, in which artists and sculptors collaborate with the house, and the creation of Ornellaia Bianco, Ornellaia's story has moved at speed, and remains a source of pride and inspiration. Many men and women have shaped Ornellaia's history. Some are no longer with us, while many others are essential parts of Ornellaia today and are working for its future. The winery is owned by the Frescobaldi family; Marchese Ferdinando Frescobaldi is president of Ornellaia, alongside Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja, chief executive officer since 1999. The Ornellaia Archivio Storico — the estate's historical archive — was inaugurated in 2017, but its test of time has only just begun. Every vintage is a new page in Ornellaia's story. Forty years on from its founding, the name Ornellaia stands for the Italian way of life and a timeless elegance. Winemakers for 700 years, the Frescobaldi family combines creative thinking, the pursuit of excellence and a deep respect for tradition. Cultivating and celebrating local diversity has always been their philosophy, honouring the identity and independence of every wine estate they own.

In the 1970s, Merlot first arrived in Montalcino thanks to the Frescobaldi family. So when Vittorio Frescobaldi met Robert Mondavi in the mid-1990s, their shared experimentation opened a new chapter in the history of the great Tuscan reds. From that meeting came a wine inspired by the desire to fulfil a dream: to create a wine in Montalcino — a land singled out for producing excellent wines — that would go beyond the boundaries of tradition, while recognising and celebrating the experience of two historic families of the wine world. This ambitious project took the name Tenuta Luce, a name that evokes the sunlight of Montalcino — the source of life and sustenance, marking the passage of the seasons and setting the pace of every task on the land. Tenuta Luce has honoured that vision ever since, and the estate's signature wine has been joined by other exceptional wines capable of transcending the boundaries of their territory and winning recognition at home and abroad. In 2005 Lamberto Frescobaldi, Vittorio's son, took over the leadership of the Tenuta Luce project. Today he is responsible for every aspect of production, from the vineyard to the creation of the blends for each vintage. His work, guided by deep respect for the land and its people, turns the fruit of the vineyards into refined wines that reflect the beauty of the place where they are born. In 2016, following its latest acquisition, Tenuta Luce gained a new winery — an underground structure perfectly integrated into the Montalcino landscape. It also houses the Luce collection, which, like an ancient library, preserves and tells the whole story of Luce. Here, as in the vineyards, the values of Tenuta Luce guide every choice. Alongside the natural beauty found in the vineyards, the winery holds a beauty built by human hands — one that inspires future generations to ever better work. Luce was the first wine in Montalcino to blend Sangiovese and Merlot: a fine harmony between the structure and elegance of Sangiovese and the roundness and softness of Merlot. Luce is the estate's emblematic wine, expressing, vintage after vintage, the family's original interpretation of these lands.

The name Frescobaldi embodies the essence of Tuscany, its extraordinary vocation for viticulture and the diversity of its terroirs. What sets Frescobaldi apart is precisely the expression of that diversity — through its different estates and through wines that convey a kaleidoscope of aromas and sensations springing from the character of each individual terroir. Viticulture and agriculture have always been hallmarks of the Frescobaldi family, who have been making wine in Tuscany for seven hundred years, since the early 1300s. The family's history is filled with illustrious forebears: literary figures, explorers, musicians, financiers, bishops and statesmen. The Frescobaldi archives hold many ancient documents and historical registers, including commercial contracts with a number of European courts dating back to the 13th century. In the 15th and 16th centuries, the Florentine house supplied wine to the English royal court and to the papal court in Rome, among others. Earlier still, the Frescobaldi had established ties with the workshops of many artists, among them Donatello, Michelozzo Michelozzi and Filippo Brunelleschi. Behind every wine bearing the Frescobaldi name stands the dedication of their agronomists and oenologists, who know the vineyards and terroirs down to the smallest detail. Their craft of producing fine wines demands unwavering respect: for the traditions that guide them, even amid innovation and avant-garde solutions; for Tuscany, their living land, to be cultivated in harmony and tranquillity; and for each individual terroir, born of a singular combination of soils, altitude and microclimate, each yielding a wine with its own unmistakable individuality.

The story of the Tasca d'Almerita family in Sicily is written in the land it has tended for eight generations, always with deep respect for tradition and an eye on the future. Two hundred years of history have made up the "slow maturation" of the winery. Tenuta Regaleali, the original estate — 550 hectares in the heart of Sicily — has belonged to the Tasca d'Almerita family since 1830, when they set out to improve the local varieties and develop the territories with the greatest potential for vine growing. Over the years four more estates joined the family's holdings: Capofaro on Salina, Tascante on Etna, the historic Tenuta Whitaker on the ancient island of Mozia, and Sallier de La Tour in Monreale. Each estate has its own individuality and tells of an ever more varied Sicily. Olive trees, grain fields and almond trees grow alongside the vineyards. In the gardens, pastures and orchards, men and women work in step with the seasons to cultivate the finest produce, each place with its own character and its own rhythm. The greatest challenge today is to preserve these places so they remain intact for future generations — proof of constant attention to safeguarding every ecosystem. In 2012 Tasca d'Almerita was named "Winery of the Year" by Gambero Rosso. In 2019 Tasca d'Almerita was named "European Winery of the Year" by the respected magazine Wine Enthusiast for its sustainable viticulture. In 2021 the winery became one of 24 wineries in the world, and one of 3 in Italy, to receive the Robert Parker Green Emblem for sustainable viticultural practices.

When Antonio Argiolas decided to stake his future on the wines of his region, he owned barely three hectares of land in Serdiana, a village 20 kilometres from Cagliari. Inherited from his father, this farm is where he planted his first vineyard. His idea grew and matured together with his love for his wife Bonaria and his family. In 1979 Antonio Argiolas, by then an established local entrepreneur, travelled to Argentina and California. Those journeys were a source of inspiration and the start of a revolution: they showed him the need to overcome the fragmentation of farmland then widespread on the island, and to use technologically advanced machinery to work larger areas of land. So Antonio acquired the land at Selegas — Sa Tanca and Susini, the winery's largest vineyards. These are the places Argiolas wines speak of, emblems of the strength, courage and foresight of the original idea. Antonio Argiolas dreamed of a winery able to tell the world its story, drawing strength from tradition. That ambition, safeguarded by his sons Franco and Giuseppe, is today in the hands of his grandchildren Valentina, Francesca and Antonio. Parents of a new generation themselves, they continue to build on the value of the land and its produce, investing in education and technology. Today the winery has become a point of reference for promoting the island's culture, wine, food and hospitality. Its encounters with the artistic and intellectual world that owes its creative force to Sardinia are likewise an engine of constant growth — fertile ground for projects and new ideas, a crossroads of stories with the power to travel across the sea.

Umani Ronchi began at the end of the 1950s, when Gino Umani Ronchi revived a small farm in Cupramontana, in the Verdicchio Classico appellation. A few years later the winery passed to the Bianchi-Bernetti family, who acquired the brand and the properties and brought an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit to the venture. Massimo Bernetti led the winery with vision and foresight, concentrating on three goals: expanding market share abroad (particularly in Germany and the United Kingdom), increasing production by adding Rosso Conero to the range, and enlarging the vineyards, which he gradually grew to more than 200 hectares across the Marche and Abruzzo. In the same period Massimo Bernetti chose to focus on the entire production chain, improving it and broadening the range of wines, starting with the reds — Rosso Conero above all. 1985 brought the first vintage of the prestigious Cùmaro. The winery also continued to develop its traditional Verdicchio, with riservas produced from selected vineyards: Casal di Serra was created in 1983, and 1985 was the first vintage of the Verdicchio Villa Bianchi. In the early 1990s Massimo was joined by his son Michele, freshly graduated in economics and business and just back from an internship in London, where he had worked in the sales department of Umani Ronchi's British distributor. It was then that Massimo decided to explore modern viticulture and winemaking techniques in greater depth, partly through collaboration with experts from major university research centres. So began Michele's season. With experience reaching beyond the region's borders, he chose to partner with Giacomo Tachis, the accomplished oenologist known for landmark wines such as Solaia and Sassicaia. In 1994, after a thorough study of international varieties and how to integrate them into the local terroir, the collaboration produced Pelago — a wine that went on to win the top gold medal at London's International Wine Challenge. The award put Umani Ronchi in the international spotlight, and shortly afterwards the wine was ranked among Wine Enthusiast's 100 best wines of 1998 with a score of 97/100. In 2000 La Botaia, a new cellar for ageing wine in bottle, was opened as part of a wider renovation of the winery in Osimo. Michele and his technical team continually refine the wines, adding new products and giving painstaking attention to existing ones — in a fiercely competitive market, at home and abroad, uncompromising quality and a distinct identity are paramount. The gold medal won by Cùmaro 2004 at Decanter, and the Gambero Rosso White Wine of the Year award for Verdicchio Vecchie Vigne 2009, testify to this unceasing work in favour of local wines. Today Michele combines running the winery and the estates with developing markets abroad. The result is that Umani Ronchi has become a genuinely international brand and a symbol of Italian excellence. In 2015 Michele Bernetti was named "Wine Ambassador of the Marche" at the Milan Expo — an honour that coincided with the organic conversion and certification of all the vineyards. In 2020 Umani Ronchi was ranked by Wine Spectator among the 34 top wineries in Italy. In 2023 Umani Ronchi received Gambero Rosso's special award "Winery of the Year 2024", together with its first Tre Bicchieri ("three glasses", the guide's highest rating) for its Verdicchio Historical 2018.

The story of Due Palme is the story of a dream — the vision of a man, the third generation of a winemaking family, who inherited the family winery and poured his energy and devotion into his land. Founded in 1989, Cantina Due Palme has become a leading producer of Salento's most typical varieties — Primitivo, Negroamaro and Susumaniello — combining tradition with advanced technology. Every stage of production in the winery, from ageing to the bottling line, is subject to strict quality control. Due Palme wines carry an important phrase on their back labels: "integralmente prodotto" (produced in its entirety) — two words that assure the consumer the wine is fully traceable at every stage of its life and made to a high standard. Thanks to their strategic vision and gentle practices in the vineyards and the cellar, Due Palme have built a strong and trusted reputation, producing wines that please both wine lovers and critics. A key feature of the vineyards is the alberello training system (literally "little tree"). This traditional method of vine growing yields highly concentrated, complex fruit. Cantina Due Palme stands for many achievements in Puglia and is an important testament to the region, its history and its culture. Grounded in enthusiasm and pride in its wines, Due Palme has established itself successfully on both the Italian and international markets, supported by an annual production of around 17 million bottles, and plays a significant role in promoting Italian wines around the world.

The Castellani family business began in Montecalvoli at the end of the 1800s with Alfredo, a winegrower who decided to bottle and sell his own wine. His son Duilio, together with his own son Mario, set the company's expansion in motion. A few years later Giorgio, Duilio's eldest son, began exporting wine as well. In 1966 a great flood in Montecalvoli caused serious damage to the winery. Giorgio's brother Roberto left a career in journalism to join the family business, and in 1970 he began exporting the wines worldwide. The winery also grew, acquiring the Poggio al Casone estate. A new era opened in 1982, when Piergiorgio Castellani joined the team, representing the next generation — the same year the Campomaggio estate was acquired. Later his son Giacomo and grandson Tommaso joined as well. Today, having celebrated the Castellani family's 120th anniversary, the winery is devoted to producing wines that express Tuscany and beyond.

The Gallo family's unwavering dedication to its vineyards and wines, stretching back more than a century, is rooted in the work and determination of family members Basilio, Stelio, Gianfranco and their relatives. Gianfranco, who has run the estate since 1978, introduced radical, far-reaching viticultural practices and devoted serious attention to winemaking technique — the reason for the distinctive character of the Vie di Romans wines over the past 40 years. A number of important steps mark this history. The first bottling and labelling for the market came in 1978, followed in 1982 by a reorganization of the vineyards aimed at raising quality. The first winery building went up in 1989. Since 1990 the wines from different vineyards have been vinified separately, and in 1992, with the release of the 1990 vintage, the practice was established of releasing all the white wines a full two years after the harvest. Vie di Romans wines can be found in distinguished restaurants around the world that showcase the Friuli region, and in many Michelin-starred establishments.

The winery dates back to 1551, making it the oldest in Spain. In 1659 Anna Codorníu married the winegrower Miquel Raventós. The house produced still wines and navigated the complications of history successfully. Later, in 1872, Josep Raventós created Spain's first bottle of cava made by the classic method. In 1885 Manuel Raventós gave a decisive push to cava and to Codorníu as a leading producer. Ten years later, in 1895, the construction of a winery at Sant Sadurní was planned. The architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch was responsible for its design and construction — alongside Gaudí, he was one of the leading figures of the great Catalan Modernista school of architecture. In 1898 a competition was held for a Modernista poster to advertise Codorníu, drawing great artists of the Catalan avant-garde and making Codorníu a true pioneer in advertising. Later, in 1959, the first Codorníu television commercial was broadcast. The new winery was completed in 1915, and in 1976 the building was recognized as a jewel of Catalan Art Nouveau architecture and declared a national historic monument. In 1984 Anna de Codorníu made history as the first cava under the brand made from Chardonnay. The first rosé cava made from Pinot Noir followed in 2002, while the first Blanc de Noirs cava made from Pinot Noir — Reina Ma Cristina — reached the market in 2010. Later, in 2017, the house created a line of prestige cava cuvées under the name Ars Collecta. In 2017 the vineyards were honoured with the Paraje Calificado ("qualified site") designation, thanks to the exceptional quality of the soil. Then, in 2020, a conversion to organic viticulture began, completed in 2024. All told, more than 450 years of history and experience surround Codorníu.

The story of Bach takes us back to 1915, when the brothers Pere and Ramon Bach i Escofet moved from Barcelona to Sant Esteve Sesrovires and bought the "Can Estrada" estate, which dates from the 18th century. With the income from their cotton trade, the Bach brothers were able to invest in building a winery, which they gradually expanded by buying new parcels until they had assembled a total of 365 hectares. The 1920 harvest, made up of the Xarel·lo and Macabeo varieties, marked Bach's long-awaited debut. Pere and Ramon Bach settled in the Penedès region with the idea of making wine destined for ageing, and went on to build a cellar 95 metres long, which they filled with 1,000 oak barrels bought at 50 pesetas each. The brothers developed the concept of their wine together with their technical team. From their roots in the textile trade came the name "Extrísimo" — the name given to the high-quality cotton imported from Egypt and India. The first bottles of Bach were also present at the legendary Barcelona International Exposition of 1929. The Civil War, however, dimmed some of the brilliance Bach had achieved in the roaring twenties and brought tragic consequences for the family: Ramon was killed, and Pere, who survived the fighting, was deeply shaken by the loss. A few years later, in 1942, he decided to sell the estate. In the years that followed, Bach changed hands several times; among other things, its successive owners ordered the construction of vast underground galleries for ageing cava while carrying out a commercial and oenological renewal of the winery. The winery changed hands once more in 1975, when it passed definitively to the Raventós family, who acquired the estate and brought Bach into their group of wineries. Much time has passed since then, but the spirit of the Bach brothers endures to this day: quality, originality and individuality in every Bach cava.

El Coto de Rioja was founded in 1970, and over more than 50 years its wines have become favourites of Spanish consumers across every category: white, rosé, crianza and reserva. The key to their success is offering high-quality wines at a very competitive price, making them equally well suited to everyday drinking and to the most special occasions. This is made possible by the drive for continuous improvement that characterises El Coto de Rioja. Over the years the winery has acquired and planted new vineyards, and today El Coto is the largest vineyard owner in the Rioja appellation, growing varieties new to the region such as Verdejo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery was built in the heart of the vineyards so that quality can be controlled from start to finish, with vinification beginning minutes after harvest. Thanks to the innovative, unconventional spirit of the team, the winery offers the widest range of white wines in the region, while its philosophy for the reds honours the classic barrel-ageing style that made Rioja a world-class category.

The history of Marqués de Murrieta is also the history of Rioja as a wine region. Applying techniques learned in Bordeaux, Don Luciano Murrieta made the first Rioja wine in 1852, with the intention of turning it into a tradition. Don Luciano's vision was clear from the outset: to create a quality Rioja wine with great ageing potential and to begin exporting it beyond Spain. He shipped his first vintage — the legendary 1852 — to countries including Mexico and Cuba, making it the first quality Rioja wine ever exported. At the Castillo, noble materials merge seamlessly with the latest technology, transforming one of the oldest industrial buildings in Europe into a benchmark of modernity and balance. In recognition of its historical significance for the world of wine, its heritage and its architecture, Castillo de Ygay — still the headquarters of Marqués de Murrieta — was declared a museum in 2019. Marqués de Murrieta Estates and Wines has been led since 1983 by the Cebrián-Sagarriga family, known for their professionalism and daily commitment to everything they undertake. The Cebrián-Sagarriga heirs, proud of their Galician roots, remember their parents every day with love and gratitude: "Our parents began a great family and corporate project, which we strive to continue with the same strength and enthusiasm. They passed on to us the values of a close-knit family and showed us the meaning of daily effort and sacrifice. They taught us to respect the past without neglecting the future, always looking ahead. They gave us their faith, their confidence, their love of life and of everyone around us, their generosity and, in essence, their enchanting way of living." — Vicente Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga, Count of Creixell. After six years of work, the new winery now stands proudly beside Castillo de Ygay. The major renovation of Marqués de Murrieta was crowned in 2021 with the opening of new winemaking facilities: a complex of buildings covering more than 25,000 square metres, built next to the Castillo. Equipped with the latest technology, it is considered one of the most advanced wineries in the world. More than 50,000 square metres of gardens create a charming, idyllic setting around the winery. Marqués de Murrieta is now fully modernised while remaining true to its roots and identity, ready to continue producing wines celebrated around the world. Marqués de Murrieta is a way of life that begins with the land and with every grape they share with the world through a glass of wine. They are a family and a professional team with a single goal: to keep their traditions alive and to believe in themselves and in quality, in the pursuit of excellence. They work with their hands, minds and hearts, applying the most advanced technology, always in harmony with their history. Marqués de Murrieta continues to evolve with new, forward-looking ideas that allow it to adapt to new times, new consumers and their aspirations — with respect for the dignity of its vineyards, every bunch of grapes, every bottle and every glass of wine, in every part of the world where it is present. Marqués de Murrieta is the proud owner of Pazo de Barrantes. The origins of Pazo de Barrantes date back to the early 16th century, and the estate has been linked to the Cebrián-Sagarriga family ever since. It is a traditional Galician manor built of stone, a witness to the most important chapters of Galicia's history. Vicente Cebrián-Sagarriga, 10th Count of Creixell and father of the current owners, built the winery beside the manor in 1991 and began producing wine with the same philosophy as at Marqués de Murrieta: to create estate wines that express the character and personality of the terroir from which they come.

Raimat's story begins in 1914, when Manuel Raventós of the Codorníu family bought an estate with an old castle on the dry plains of Lleida, Catalonia. The castle gate bears a carving of grapes and a hand — raïm and mat in Catalan — which gave the place its name. Over the following century, the family turned near-barren land into a working wine estate, an early adopter of sustainable viticulture in Spain and a driving force behind the recognition of the Costers del Segre appellation. Raimat grows both international and local varieties; the Albariño in our catalogue shows the region's less expected side — an Atlantic grape raised in a continental climate, ripe and fresh at once.

After a thorough study of several regions, they fell for the Cigales appellation — a territory with a long tradition of grape growing and a vast heritage of century-old vineyards that had been abandoned for lack of winery projects in the area. The fact that agronomist Tomás Jurío took charge of the project says much about the importance of the vineyards at Finca Museum. Finca Museum was thus founded in 2000.

In designing the winery, architect Domingo Triay sought a balance between the building's minimalist, contemporary character and its natural surroundings. A fine wine like Legaris is made without watching the clock. Its rhythm is set by nature, the grapes, the days and the sun — because wine, like everything in life, is best made with more time and less haste. At Legaris, wines are made calmly. The estate occupies a privileged site with a distinctive microclimate characteristic of Ribera del Duero. From the very beginning, the brand has been built on solid foundations: the origin of its wines.

Ramos Pinto was founded in 1880 by the brothers Adriano and António, opening a new era of quality winemaking in the Douro. Today Adriano and António's descendants, Jorge and Ana Rosas, carry that pioneering spirit forward in the pursuit of the highest quality in the Douro, as chief executive and master blender respectively. Balancing innovation with respect for tradition, the house has grown ever stronger and is today a reference point for quality wines and port in the Douro. Ramos Pinto makes its wines exclusively from grapes grown on its own four estates, having understood early on that the quality of its wine depends on the Douro's terroir, and having full control of — and deep knowledge of — its land. Quinta do Bom Retiro and Quinta da Urtiga lie in the Cima Corgo, while Quinta dos Bons Ares and Quinta de Ervamoira are in the Douro Superior — 286 hectares planted with vines in all. Grapes from Ervamoira bring structure and depth of fruit, while Bom Retiro and Urtiga lend complexity and elegance to the blends. It is this knowledge of the Douro's terroirs, combined with innovative viticulture, a strict production policy and the selection of only the finest grape varieties, that yields world-class Tawnies, Vintage ports worthy of their age, and some of the Douro's highest-quality wines. Ramos Pinto's long and remarkable history grew richer still in 1990, when the house became part of the Louis Roederer family, who share its family story, its focus on quality and its investment in the future. With an eye on that future, Ramos Pinto is working to implement organic farming and increase biodiversity in its vineyards, deepening its bond with nature and continuing its legacy of producing wines of the highest quality.

Today the Dr. Loosen name is recognised internationally as a leader in the revived culture of fine German Riesling. The winery has been a member of the VDP, the association of German quality wine estates, since 1993.

In 1996 Ernst Loosen took over the Wolf winery in the Pfalz region, whose traditions date back to 1756. Villa Wolf is an Italian-style country villa of singular design, completed in 1843 to plans by the Karlsruhe architect Friedrich Eisenlohr. As with the Dr. Loosen winery, Ernst Loosen seized the opportunity to restore another traditional estate with first-class vineyards. Here he saw the potential to produce first-rate dry wines from the Pfalz, complementing the fruit-driven Rieslings of the Dr. Loosen estate on the Mosel. Sheltered by the surrounding mountains, the Pfalz enjoys a very mild, warm climate that is excellent for the development and ripening of the grapes.

The Bründlmayer winery is located in Langenlois, about 70 km north-west of Vienna, up the Danube in the Kamp valley. Wooded hills shield the vineyards from the cold north-westerly winds. By day the sun warms the stony terraced vineyards, while at night fresh forest air drifts down the Kamp valley towards Langenlois. Today Willi Bründlmayer runs the family estate together with his wife Edwige, Thomas Klinger and Andreas Wickhoff MW (Master of Wine). In his words: "Wine tells you everything about the soil, the warmth and the cold, the storms and the rain, the landscape — and the people involved in making it from the very beginning." The single-varietal wines are crystal-clear interpretations of the variety and its origin, while the interplay between soil and fruit is the focal point of the classic wines from individual vineyard sites. The winery's most important varieties are Riesling and Grüner Veltliner.

This distinctive family winery is located within the metropolis of Vienna, and its vineyards are farmed biodynamically. The values that guide it — the highest quality, respect for nature and a sustainability lived across generations — run through everything it does. The character of the vineyards, with the Danube flowing between them, is shaped by varied soils and climates. Natural cultivation, demanding a great deal of work by hand, produces a broad palette of individual wines, each expressing the singular character of the Vienna region. Now known around the world, these wines earn international recognition at tastings and are exported to 45 countries on every continent.

Ktima Gerovassiliou is the creation of Vangelis Gerovassiliou. In 1981 he began reviving the family vineyard, which covered 2.5 hectares in the Papamola area of Epanomi, roughly 25 km south-east of Thessaloniki. In this singular ecosystem he planted mainly Greek varieties alongside some international ones. The first vinification took place in 1986 in the modern winery built beside the vineyard. Vangelis Gerovassiliou was born in Epanomi to a family of agronomists and winegrowers. After studying at the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, he specialised in oenology, viticulture, wine tasting and winemaking technology at the University of Bordeaux in France. During his studies he became an associate of the renowned Bordeaux professor Émile Peynaud and took part in his team's tastings at France's famous châteaux. From 1976 until early 1999 Vangelis worked as oenologist at Domaine Porto Carras, then producing some of Greece's most highly regarded wines. It was there that he first vinified, revived and rescued the long-forgotten Greek variety Malagousia. In 1981, drawing on his knowledge and experience in viticulture and fine wine, Vangelis Gerovassiliou began restoring the family vineyard and founded Ktima Gerovassiliou. In 1998, together with oenologist Vassilis Tsaktsarlis, he founded Ktima Biblia Chora at Kokkinochori in the Kavala region of northern Greece — a 48-hectare vineyard stretching across the slopes of Mount Pangeon and surrounding the modern winery. In 2014 Ktima Biblia Chora purchased the Kokkoli Estate at Agios Andreas in the Peloponnese and created Ktima Dyo Ipsi. In 2017, in collaboration with oenologist Ioanna Vamvakouri, they founded Mikra Thira, the first winery on Therasia — the small island that was part of Santorini until the great volcanic eruption of 1600 BC. A recent addition is the small family winery of Titos Eftychidis in Goumenissa, a region known for its winemaking traditions. Vangelis Gerovassiliou and his wife Sonia Tziola-Gerovassiliou have passed their love of wine and viticulture on to their children and to the estate's staff alike. Argyris, Marianthi and Vasiliki — the second Gerovassiliou generation — having completed their studies in oenology, management and marketing respectively, are now part of the winery team, contributing their knowledge and fresh ideas.

Mikra Thira is the first winery ever built on Therasia, the small island facing Santorini across the caldera — the two were one landmass until the volcanic eruption some 3,600 years ago. The project brings together three established Greek winemakers: Vangelis Gerovassiliou, Vassilis Tsaktsarlis and Ioanna Vamvakouri. The vineyards are ungrafted, many of the vines more than 80 years old, planted almost entirely with Assyrtiko in volcanic ash and pumice; the first harvest came in 2018. The Santorini Assyrtiko in our catalogue carries the appellation's signature — taut acidity, smoky minerality and a saline finish that comes from this ground and nowhere else. A young winery working very old soil.

Ktima Biblia Chora, built in the foothills of Mount Pangeon, is a guardian of the ancient Greek heritage of grape pressing and winemaking, which dates back to the Neolithic period (c. 4300 BC), as shown by archaeological finds from the prehistoric tell settlement of Dikili Tash in the fertile plain of Philippi. When the Phoenicians — master seafarers and traders — came to Pangeon in search of precious metals, they inevitably helped spread grape varieties and the art of winemaking. They brought with them a sacred vine known as "Biblia Ampelos", from the port city of Byblos in Phoenicia. The ancient Greeks went on to produce wine of high quality from this variety, calling it "Biblinos Oenos" (sacred wine), and the Pangeon region became a celebrated wine region of its time. It was known throughout ancient Greece as "Biblia Chora", as recorded in the ancient writings of Hesiod, Theocritus and Michael Psellos. This ancient winegrowing heritage, together with excellent soil and climate conditions, drew the attention of oenologists Vangelis Gerovassiliou and Vassilis Tsaktsarlis. It inspired the two to create a new estate at Pangeon, which they decided to name "Ktima Biblia Chora" ("ktima" meaning estate). The estate's first vines were planted in 1998 over an area of 7 hectares. Construction of the modern winery began in June 2001, and Biblia Chora's first wines were vinified that same year.

The story begins in Naoussa, Macedonia, in 1879, when Yiannis Boutari founded the winery that bears his name. In 1906 the family built the town's first private winery for retail sales, and in 1935 new horizons opened with their first wine exports, to Austria, Hungary and Egypt. In 1989 Boutari broke new ground again by investing in wine tourism, becoming the first winery to open its doors to visitors on Santorini. In 2004 their vineyard on Crete became home to what was at the time one of the most modern wineries in Europe. In 2022 the Boutari wineries turned a new page, joining the Sterner Stenhus Greece group. Catena Zapata's story starts in 1902, when Italian immigrant Nicola Catena planted his first Malbec vineyard in Mendoza. Three generations later, Nicolás Catena Zapata made the decisive move: planting at altitudes then considered too cold for ripening, including the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary at nearly 1,500 metres. Cold nights and intense mountain sunlight produce Malbec with concentration and freshness in the same glass — an experiment that changed how the world reads Argentine wine. The fourth generation, Laura Catena, physician and winemaker, leads the family house today. The recognition matches the altitude: in 2026 the votes of merchants, buyers and Masters of Wine made Catena Zapata Drinks International's The World's Most Admired Wine Brand for the second consecutive year, and back in 2009 Decanter named Nicolás Catena its Man of the Year. Our catalogue carries the Catena and Catena Alta lines — Malbec and Chardonnay from high-altitude vineyards — alongside D.V. Catena Tinto Histórico, a nod to the blends of the family's early decades.

TerraMater — "Mother Earth" in Latin — was founded in 1996 by the three Canepa sisters, heirs to an established Italian-Chilean winemaking family, who kept the family's vineyard estates and started a house of their own. The winery farms its own vineyards in the Maipo and Curicó valleys, the source of the Alma range in our catalogue: Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Rosé in the practical 187 ml bottle. The small format has a precise job — hotel minibars, airline trolleys, a single glass of wine — with no compromise on what goes into the bottle. The company's name is inseparable from one story: to keep his finest bottles safe, Don Melchor let it be known that the devil lived in his cellar. That cellar became Casillero del Diablo — "the devil's cellar" — now one of the most widely recognized wine brands in the world. Drinks International's The World's Most Admired Wine Brands ranking regularly places it among the leading names in the world. Fifty years ago Jerry Lohr made a career change — one that went on to reshape the California wine landscape and create one of the most popular wine brands in the United States. In the late 1960s Jerry began a thorough study of California's grape-growing regions in search of the ideal site for his first vineyard. He had grown up on a farm in South Dakota, and his farming roots gave him an innate feel for the interplay of climate, soil and place. His research and his instincts led him to the Central Coast, a region only beginning to reveal its potential. Today J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines farms more than 560 hectares of cool-climate vineyards in the Arroyo Seco and Santa Lucia Highlands appellations of Monterey County, focused on Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir. The family also farms more than 1,100 hectares in Paso Robles — a region recognized as one of the world's finest for Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux and Rhône varieties. Nearly all the red wines in the J. Lohr portfolio come from there, confirming Jerry's early vision. J. Lohr also owns more than 12 hectares in Napa Valley — the well-known Carol's Vineyard, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The company operates state-of-the-art winemaking facilities in Greenfield and Paso Robles, and the J. Lohr wine centers in San Jose and Paso Robles welcome thousands of visitors and wine lovers every year. From this rich and varied palette of sustainably grown grapes, J. Lohr produces wines that are expressive on the nose and true to their terroir, many of them award winners. Founded five decades ago and still family owned, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines has established itself as one of the most respected wine brands in the industry. Before there were vineyards in every valley north of San Francisco, before Napa and Sonoma became household names, before there was wine in California at all, there was Buena Vista. Founded in 1857, with lands stretching from Sonoma to Napa, Buena Vista was California's first premium winery, and its history is as colorful as it is proud. Today the legend has been reborn under the vision of Jean-Charles Boisset. Just outside the town of Sonoma, the original winery is now a California Historical Landmark and home to the winery and its visitor center. Château Buena Vista, in the heart of downtown Napa, is the realization of a dream to restore the winery's presence in Napa Valley. Agoston Haraszthy, the winery's founder, was an eccentric count with a genuine devotion to California wine. Surrounded by his own intrigues and in political exile, the Count emigrated from Hungary in 1842 in search of opportunity and freedom in the booming West. Where others sought gold in the hills of Northern California, Haraszthy sought "purple gold" — the ideal terroir for exceptional wine. He settled in Sonoma, the birthplace of California and capital of the short-lived California Republic, where he founded the Buena Vista winery in 1857. A dedicated viticulturist, innovator, respected author and shrewd businessman, the Count is considered the most ardent champion of viticulture in California. Despite his sudden death in 1869 in a crocodile-infested river in the jungles of Nicaragua, and through the trials of the Great Depression, Prohibition and phylloxera, his beloved Buena Vista not only endured but prospered. Boisset Family Estates, a family with true affection and respect for Buena Vista, is the current owner, committed to carrying forward the vision and legacy first created by the Count 150 years ago. The winery has a storied history and grand wines, and offers an extraordinary experience to those who visit the beautiful estate.

Calera is a vision, and Calera's wines truly express a sense of place. Rather than follow the mainstream, Josh Jensen became a pioneer of American Pinot Noir. Taking his cue from the great estates of Burgundy, which had grown grapes on limestone soils for centuries, he set out to find the precise spot in California where he could create distinctive wines in the style of the greatest wines of France. The choice of site was vital — and he dared to leave the familiar behind and stake everything on an old quarry in the Gavilan Mountains of California's Central Coast. Today Calera's wines still express that pioneering spirit and are admired around the world. Even Robert Parker was convinced: "Calera is one of the most compelling Pinot Noir specialists not only of the New World, but of planet Earth." The winery is part of the Duckhorn portfolio.
