Nearly 150 years have passed since the founding of Vietti. At the end of the 1800s, Carlo Vietti started the winery in the heart of the Langhe, at the highest point of the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto — the same spot it occupies today. In 1917, returning after many years in the United States, Carlo's son Mario Vietti took over the company and shaped it into a winery capable of producing high-quality wines. In the late 1950s Alfredo Currado — husband of Luciana Vietti, an oenologist and lover of art — connected the family's long experience with a renewed intuition, weaving together the knowledge of wine, art and culture. In 1961 one of the first Barolo cru wines was produced, named Rocche di Castiglione. In 1967 came the first vinification of Arneis. Since 1974 the wines have carried Art Labels depicting works of art, and the Vietti name became an icon and standard-bearer of some of the most important revolutions of the era. The intellectual and professional legacy of Alfredo Currado and Luciana was taken up first in the 1980s by their son-in-law Mario Cordero and then, from the 1990s, by their son Luca Currado Vietti, later joined by his wife Elena. Commitment and vision, culture and dedication — these are the words behind the growth of the Vietti winery and brand, recognized today among the leading Italian wine labels. The path of quality has been traced through respect for tradition and careful experimentation, with man and land in constant dialogue. In 2016 the Krause family purchased Vietti. Once again, human intuition made the difference: Kyle Krause set out to expand the estate with new, renowned crus in the Barolo and Barbaresco appellations. At the beginning of 2023 Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena left the winery. The legacy passed to the Krause family, owners since 2016 and standard-bearers of the brand's next chapter. As the seasons have gone by, the company has continued to grow, and the focus on constant improvement — together with the selection of wines offered and the care taken in the vineyards — has become a true signature of the house. Today Vietti owns some of the most representative vineyards in the Barolo and Barbaresco zones. As in the past, Vietti holds to the founding values that guided Carlo Vietti at the beginning and all his successors after him. The team looks to the future with ever more promising and stimulating prospects. Every wine is the result of craftsmanship and of a deep understanding and interpretation of each individual terroir. Vietti is where skilled hands in the vineyard and the cellar meet vision.
