The Schlumberger family originates from Swabia, a region of southern Germany now part of Baden-Württemberg. Klaus Schlumberger was the first of the family to settle in Guebwiller, in the 16th century, in the days of the abbots of Murbach. He soon found himself at odds with the abbots' hegemony and moved to Mulhouse, a free city since the 14th century that had embraced Protestantism. After Klaus's death, many family members came from Swabia to Mulhouse to work, like him, as tanners. Within a few generations the Schlumbergers had become the largest family in Mulhouse by the 17th century. In our own time, when her father Éric retired in 2001, Séverine Schlumberger decided to return to the estate and immerse herself in the world of wine, learning everything from market trends to the wine trade. Thomas joined her in 2010 as export director and is now chief executive of Domaines Schlumberger. As guardians of this singular wine heritage, they want to share their story and family values with as many people as possible. In 2019 a new showcase with a new tasting room was created, offering an excellent place to discover the Schlumberger wines. Like the generations before them, Séverine and Thomas like to remember that they are links in a long family chain whose central ambition is to make a difference. With that in mind, they have undertaken a series of projects to ensure the best possible transfer of knowledge, with a constant focus on quality, respect for the environment and human values.
