Шато Монт Редон

Henri Plantin (1890–1966) was the forefather of Château Mont-Redon. In 1923, well before the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation was created in 1936, he acquired this estate, set apart from the village and surrounded by woodland. A true visionary, he set about consolidating the various parcels around the property, recognising the exceptional nature and terroir of the plateau overlooking Mont-Redon, then covered in scrub and small woods. He decided to clear this unused land and plant vines in soil strewn with rounded pebbles. Château Mont-Redon lies in the north-western part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The estate has the privilege of holding all three of the appellation's emblematic terroirs: primarily the stony plateau, then the safres (compact sand) and the Urgonian limestones. These three highly complementary terroirs are the key to the complexity and quality of its wines.
