Family-owned for more than 200 years, the winery has been run by Ernst F. Loosen since 1988. Excellent wines, in his view, are the perfect expression of soil, climate and grape variety. In the legacy of his ancestors — old vines, true to their roots, in the historic grand cru sites of the Middle Mosel — he found the foundation he needed to create complex, world-class wines. Today the Dr. Loosen name is recognised internationally as a leader in the revived culture of fine German Riesling. The winery has been a member of the VDP, the association of German quality wine estates, since 1993.
