At the end of 2020, Wine Spectator — America's most influential wine publication — announced its annual Top 100. In first place: Marqués de Murrieta's Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2010. The wine already carried 100 Falstaff points as the world's finest Gran Reserva.
Castillo Ygay is made only in exceptional vintages, entirely from the estate's Finca Ygay vineyards in Rioja. The 2010 spent 24 months in American oak and another five years in bottle before its release in January 2020 — patience that the ranking turned into history.

Marqués de Murrieta has been part of Bibendum's portfolio since 2011 — and Castillo Ygay is among the wines for which the word “legend” is not an exaggeration.
